Some facts
What are our therapy methods based on?
-
On the knowledge of today's medicine. Dr. B. Siegel and Dr. C. Simonton claim that treatment should also embrace the mental sphere; that once your vital powers are regained and your mood improved, the energy that is within you, somewhere at deeper levels of your organism, will become active. These are the powers that got those on their feet who were said to have a month or a year left and who against medical diagnosis came back to a normal life. Dr. Bernie Siegel analyzed the views of Hogben, Edmunds and Jung and concluded that a disease indicates the need for a change and for a new lifestyle. According to his point of view, the pathogenic factors include stress, despair, deep anxiety and inner emptiness. All this leads to a feeling of isolation, fear, anger and guilt. Dr. Bernie Siegel regards inner peace, love, ability to forgive, acceptance and self-esteem as factors that play an important role in the process of recovery.

On modern philosophy. A few ages ago, Spinoza, a 17th century rationalist, had no doubt, that there is a close interaction between body and mind. From the premises formulated by Spinoza it follows that if any part of an organism has been overtaken by disarray, it will inevitably have an impact on the whole body. His ethics has laid the foundations of today's physiology and psychology. Spinoza noticed that destructive thoughts or feelings are harmful to the organism and they do not only cause suffering and despair but also can lead to physical degeneracy. The philosopher particularly emphasized the effects of such feelings as hatred, fear, jealousy, envy, feeling of guilt, regret, mercy, getting sentimental over oneself, obsessive thoughts and brooding on authentic or imaginary wrongs. Spinoza, Pythagoras, Plato, Buddha and many other thinkers taught that one should preserve moderation in everything, that our life should be full of altruism, optimism and joyful participation. If we live a simple and happy life, which is at the same time not deprived of a spiritual element, our organism will get stronger.

On the knowledge that originated in the ancient times. Hippocrates, father of the scientific medicine, agreed with the opinion of Pythagoras and claimed that, when speaking of health, one should take into consideration both body and mind, which means that they have to be treated at the same time; he claimed that there are some "laws of the mind", disregarding of which destroys the harmony. It was Hippocrates, a physician and philosopher, who noticed, that diseases result from destroying the harmony; and the lack of this harmony destroys the mind- body integrity. Plato believed that health consists in a harmony and balance within the body organs.
The Clinic of Recovery is for those who want to fight against the disease, for those who want to be happy, for those who want to change their lives.
